The conference
Transforming Culture in the Digital Age that took place in Tartu, Estonia, from April 14 - April 16 turned out to be a very stimulating conference for SMIT’s culture cluster
Cultuurlab. Lien Mostmans and Eva Van Passel (in co-presentation), Stijn Bannier and Joke Beyl each presented a paper related to their specific research tracks. Lien and Eva referred to the results of the BOM-VL research project to reflect on the providers and users of digital audiovisual heritage in Flanders. Stijn Bannier presented a paper, which was co-authored by Chris Vleugels, that focused on web 3.0 as a combination of user-generated and machine-generated content within the context of the CUPID-research project. Joke Beyl elaborated on her doctoral research concerning the narrative construction of artists’ self-presentation and authority through weblogs. These presentations were all received very well and instigated interesting debates. The full papers are published in the conference’s e-book that can be downloaded via the following link.
