Intuitive ways to use multi-media content

MuTable, one of the new IBBT-projects, is a research project about the use of multi-media multi-touch tables in public cultural settings such as public libraries and museums. The multi-touch technology enables users to manipulate content in a more natural and intuitive way. In spite of the growing affordability and usability of multi-touch tables, there are still several tresholds and challenges. In this project the research team, coordinated by IBBT/EDM, will focus on new software architectures, user interface building blocks, interaction and visualisation techniques, etc. IBBT/SMIT will particularly analyse the ways cultural participants and cultural experts make use of these technologies. Some questions at stake: How are these technologies changing the way cultural content is presented and manipulated? How are multi-touch tables changing interaction between users? How are new presentation technologies changing the relation between users and experts?
